Counselling

At GAF, we know that true wellbeing goes beyond physical fitness. Mental and emotional health are just as important. That’s why we’re here to support the whole person, offering counselling and emotional support alongside our fitness services, so you can nurture both your body and your mind.

Our counselling service provides a supportive, compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, make sense of challenges and work towards your personal growth and healing.

Counselling services

We offer both in-person and online counselling, so you can choose the setting that feels right for you.

Sessions are £55 per session with reduced-fee sessions available on a sliding scale (where funding allows and eligibility is met)

If you’re thinking about counselling but want to find out more first, book in a free 20-minute initial consultation. This is your chance to meet our counsellor Lori, ask questions, and see whether it feels like a good fit.

Meet our counsellor

Hello! I'm Lori, a qualified therapeutic counsellor based at GAF, offering both in-person and online sessions.

My journey into counselling was shaped by my own lived experiences of trauma and of trying to find belonging as a neurodivergent, queer, mixed-race woman. Having experienced the power of therapy firsthand, I am passionate about creating the same safe, healing space for others. I hope to offer clients a space where they can feel seen, heard and understood, and where they are supported to navigate life’s challenges, find healing and reconnect with who they are.

Before becoming a counsellor, I worked as a menstrual cycle coach and full-spectrum doula, supporting women through baby loss, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and menstrual cycle awareness (MCA). I understand how these uniquely female experiences are interwoven with our overall wellbeing, and so I bring this awareness into my work with clients.

In addition to counselling, I offer birth debriefs. While this is not counselling, a birth debrief provides a safe, confidential space to talk through your birth experience, however it unfolded. I aim to support you in making sense of your experience, support you to feel heard and validated and offer a unique, impartial perspective from a birth professional.

Our therapeutic aproach

Lori is not the kind of “blank slate” therapist who just nods along from a distance. She takes a relational approach to therapy, meaning that she believes in the power of the relationship between therapist and client. She sees therapy as a space to meet each other human to human, building a real connection and a genuine, collaborative, therapeutic relationship.

Lori's counselling practice is grounded in the humanistic approach, which centres on empathy, authenticity, and your innate capacity for growth. At GAF we believe that each person holds the wisdom and strength to heal within themselves, sometimes we just need the right support to uncover it.

Lori works in a flexible and collaborative way, tailoring sessions to your individual needs and experiences. She works in a person-centred way whilst also recognising that some clients want or need more of a guided holding from their counsellor.

Planting a Tree

Lori is trained in the humanistic approach. She believes in your potential to grow, heal, and get to know your authentic self with the right support.

Woman in conversation

We are committed to holding space that prioritises safety and empathy. Lori will meet you wholeheartedly with integrity and understanding
